We’re getting married in Hoi An, a charming and ancient city off the central coast of Vietnam (where Mira’s dad grew up!). Only a 30 minute drive from the bustling city of Da Nang, both the wedding and reception will take place at Bliss Hoi An Beach Resort and Wellness.

  • LAX → DAD (Da Nang International Airport)
    Many of you will be coming from San Diego, but flights from LAX are much cheaper with shorter travel times since there are actually single-stop layovers. We suggest you carpool to LAX and leave your car at one of the following parking spots with free shuttles to the airport:

what to do

Below are our recommendations for what to do in Hoi An, but we highly suggest spending a few days before/after the wedding in the big city of Da Nang for some of the best beaches, street food, restaurants, bars, shopping and cafes you’ll find in Vietnam. While you’re at it, why not add a week to your trip and check out other cities like Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Nha Trang, Hue, and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)!

Old Town Hoi An

Walk through the UNESCO-listed Old Town and visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, Tan Ky Old House and Phuc Kien Assembly Hall.

Hoi An is famous for its skilled (and quick + affordable) tailors. Get a custom dress, matching set, pants, etc. made at shops like Bebe Tailor and Yaly Couture.

Relax at beaches like Binh Minh Beach, An Bang Beach or Cua Dai Beach - all a short ride or walk away from the venue.

Night Market + Street Food

Visit the Hoi An Night Market for souvenirs, local snacks and famous dishes like Cao Lau (noodles with pork and herbs) and Che (Vietnamese dessert).

Thu Bon River

Take a sunset boat ride on the Thu Bon River for a peaceful view of the town.

Take a local cooking class at Red Bridge Cooking School, Vy’s Market Cooking School, or through an Airbnb experience!

Cooking Classes

    • To enter Vietnam, you must apply for an electronic 90-day visa (25 USD for a single-entry visa / 50 USD for a multiple-entry visa). You can easily apply online HERE.

    • Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and has a blank visa page.

  • While no vaccines are mandatory for entry into Vietnam, several are strongly recommended at least 4-6 weeks before your trip:

    • Routine Vaccines: Ensure you’re up to date on MMR, DTaP/Tdap, polio, flu, and varicella

    • Hepatitis A: Recommended for all travelers (spread through food/water)

    • Typhoid: Recommended, especially if eating street food or traveling to rural areas

    • Rabies: Consider if you’ll be around animals, such as stray dogs or monkeys

    Please reach out to your doctor to get other advice/shots based on your medical history.

    • Grab: The Uber of Vietnam! A must for calling taxis and motorbikes for getting around.

    • WhatsApp: To communicate with locals and businesses/services.

    • Google Translate: For menus and signs (although many locals speak English!)

    • Although wifi is available almost anywhere in Vietnam, we recommend getting more reliable connection (especially for navigation) by:

      • Contacting your phone carrier to get an international service plan

      • Purchasing a SIM card at the destination airport

    • Always carry cash in Vietnamese Dong (VND) as it's widely used for street food, markets, and smaller establishments.

    • Drink only bottled water or boiled water.

  • March is considered one of the best months to travel to Vietnam because of its pleasant weather. The Hoi An central region of Vietnam experiences warm, dry weather (72° to 86°), perfect for beach days and exploring the city on foot without rain/risk of monsoons.
